Office for Mac that comes with a Microsoft 365 subscription is updated on a regular basis to provide new features, security updates, and non-security updates. The following information is primarily intended for IT professionals who are deploying Office for Mac to the users in their organizations.
Note
Today, Office 365 is available for the first time on the Mac App Store, making it easier than ever for Mac users to download Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and the whole suite of Microsoft's popular apps. Users can also purchase a subscription for Office 365 from within the apps, so they can get up and running instantly. Office 365 trial for Mac I have been using Office for Mac 2011 and happened to allow an update for Office 365 trial for Mac. At the end of the free trial I did not want it but after cancelling the subscription it has not gone and Office 365 is now default and opens all my Office documents in view mode only. Select Office 365 apps to begin the installation. The 64-bit version is installed by default unless Office detects you already have a 32-bit version of Office (or a stand-alone Office app such as Project or Visio) installed. In this case, the 32-bit version of Office. Sign in to the page using the Microsoft account that's associated with your Microsoft 365 Family trial. We can help if you can't remember the Microsoft account.
- Starting with Version 16.21, Microsoft Teams will be installed by default for new installations if you're using the Office suite install package. For more information, see Microsoft Teams installations on a Mac.
- For security reason, Microsoft has deprecated the use of SHA-1. Learn more
